About us
Mr. Belfonte Pieri moved to the United States in 1958 in search of the American Dream. After working various jobs, including as an assistant chef, he decided to fulfill his lifelong dream with his wife, Noemi, of opening their own Italian restaurant. Using recipes passed down through their families in Tuscany, they opened Bacchanalia restaurant in Chicago in 1979, just blocks away from their home.
Mr. and Mrs. Pieri maintained full-time roles in the business until 2000, when their daughter and son, Paula and Dante, took over. Mr. Pieri continued to develop new recipes until he passed away in 2006. Today, Noemi still makes the ravioli by hand, while Paula and Dante carry out the day-to-day operations.
